Remember God Hears and Knows (Exodus 2:23-25)

The Israelites groaned because of their difficult labor; and they cried out; and their cry for help because of the difficult labor ascended to God. And God heard their groaning; and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and with Jacob; and God saw the Israelites; and God knew.

Exodus 2:23-25

Have you ever been forgotten? I remember one time when I felt that way. I had scheduled a lunch meeting with a friend and had something important to discuss. I got there early and took some time to pray for our conversation. I sat there at the table waiting for him to arrive, but he never came. It hurts when people don’t value you or your time.

Sometimes we feel like God has forgotten us. He has left us to deal with our struggles all on our own. We have relationship struggles that won’t go away. We have financial hurdles that won’t get resolved. We pray, but the answer doesn’t seem to be coming. Is God busy? Does he even care?

The Israelites must have felt that way when the Egyptians were mistreating them. They were forced into strenuous labor. Their backs were beaten and their shoulders heavy. Where was God?

God hadn’t forgotten them and he hasn’t forgotten you either. He hears your prayers of grief. He knows every cry of your heart. He sees you in your hard times. He cares deeply about you. Greater still, he remembers his covenant love for you in Jesus. He’s working it all together for your good.

So, rejoice today because God hears, remembers, sees and knows.
